Chickens

Chicken Stories:

Chicken Soup by Jean Van Leeuwen

My Life as a Chicken by Ellen A. Kelley

These are the ones read to us.  Feel free to find other good chicken stories at your local library!

Craft: A Chicken Mask
Materials:
Red Paper, about 1/2 of an 8x10, folded so it's large enough for 1 child's hand
Chicken cut out (I couldn't find this one online, so here's my own rendition done with simple circles and lines in Microsoft Paint:)

Popsicle stick
Scissors
Glue
Various markers, crayons, etc

To the side of the chicken cut out is a little example of what the final product should resemble.  Trace your child's hand on the red paper, color and cut out everything, then glue it together.

My daughter insisted that one of her hand prints get glued to each side of the head, and the beak was green, but that's the beauty of her craft... there's no doubt who made it.
